The center of Tossa de Mar is the ideal place where to stay in. Tossa de Mar is a typical Spanish town - narrow alleys with white washed houses slice through the town ending to squares that are surrounded by palm trees and charming restaurants.
The center is located between the bus station and the old town. The distance from the station to the beach is about 600 meters. The terrain in the center is flat, but there are hills on both sides. Switch to satellite mode on the map (upper left corner) and you’ll see where the hills begin.
Things to do in Tossa de Mar
The nature along the seaside is truly beautiful and the main factor why to come to Tossa de Mar. The beautiful Mediterranean offers astonishing surroundings for hikes and all kinds of outdoorsy activities. In contrast, the town center offers interesting sites where you can dive into the fascinating past of the medieval town.
Translated as the old village, Vila Vella is the fortified part of Tossa de Mar. The rectangular castle with a watchtower at the top of the Vila Vella was replaced by the present-day lighthouse.
The Vila Vella itself is a charming place with narrow cobbled streets. Inside the Vila Vella there are also the remains of the late-Gothic 15th-century church of Sant Vicenç, which is built on top of the remains of an earlier Romanesque church of the 11th or the 12th century. The 300-meter long rampart of the old town is an emblem to Tossa de Mar and the views from the top are unique.

Snorkeling and diving
The waters in Tossa are bright and the underwater world is diverse. The area is great for snorkeling and diving, therefore people come all the way from Barcelona to Tossa de Mar for underwater exploring.
Museu Municipal de Tossa de Mar
The municipal museum is located in the Old Town of Tossa de Mar since 1935. It consists of two parts - arts and archaeological section. The arts section exhibits of collection of different artists such as Marc Chagall and Olga Sacharoff. In the archaeological section you get to see the ruins of the Ametllers Villa from 2nd century BC., which is one of the most important Roman villas found in the Tarragona Province.

A nature trail follows the coast going South. It starts behind Vila Vella, you can see it in picture 8 on the map, opposite side of the bay. The Mediterranean on the other side and the pine forest on another gives pleasurable setting for a walk. Along the way you'll find several viewing points, Miradors.
Visit other towns in Costa Brava
Visiting neighbor towns is easy either by a local bus or a ferry. The Costa Brava ferries shuttle from town to town, or to be more precise, from beach to beach. The pick-up and drop-off spot in Tossa de Mar is in the middle of the main beach.
Girona only 40 kilometers away is worth a visit for a day trip. Girona is already significantly bigger city with a rich history and well preserved architecture. The city's football team plays in the highest tier in Spanish Primera Division. From Tossa de Mar bus station, there are several connections to Girona every day.
Beaches of Tossa de Mar
The beach in front of the town is vast and you will find a spots to choose from even during the high season. The waters in front of Tossa de Mar are clear and life under surface is vivid. Tossa is one of the best and most the popular snorkeling and diving destinations on Costa Brava for its lively waters where you don't have to go far from the shore line to see bright colored Mediterranean fish.
Tossa has a limited selection of smaller boutiques where to buy souvenirs and memories from your holiday. You'll find ceramics, arts and clothing. In the neighbor town of Lloret de Mar, you will find a larger selection of shops.

How to get from Barcelona Airport to Tossa de Mar

How to get from Barcelona City to Tossa de Mar
- The buses to Tossa de Mar leave from the main bus station of Barcelona, Estacio del Nord. Estació del Nord is located a little over one kilometer away from Catalonia Square next to the Arc de Triomf metro station. Timetables: Moventis
- Train connections from Barcelona up north to Costa Brava don’t go beyond Blanes, the railroad takes a turn to inland after that. Distance from Blanes to Tossa de Mar is 18 kilometers. Timetables for trains: Renfe.com.

Weather in Tossa de Mar
Winter: The winter months from December to February are often rainy and the daily high average temperatures very between 5-10 °C. The weather in Tossa de Mar in winter is very unpredictable.
Spring: From March to May, the rains are less frequent and the sun is out often. The average temperature climbs in March up to around 15°C, but in May, the average daily high is already over 20 °C. May is often the first month the locals hit the beach as hot days are possible.
Summer: From June to August, the sunshine is pretty much guaranteed. The temperature climbs up to 30 °C and over. June isn't as hot month as July and August.
Autumn: September is still a warm month and it’s often beach weather in Tossa de Mar still throughout the month. The daily high temperature in September stays clearly above 20 °C. In mid October, the weather cools down to under 20 °C. and it starts to rain more often. In November the temperature is already around 10°C.
